1.Mattie says, “No more bleeding.Trust me.”Mattie and Eliza are discussing the ways doctors are trying to cure the Fever.

a.What way do you think is the best way to treat the Fever and why?

b.Think of a way medical research has changed the way patients are treated today.Give a specific example that is different than other examples shared.

I think that the best way was to clean up the streets and they place where she was staying and take like a cold bath and get cleaned up to help it. today they are a lot more sterile. for example when doctors go to preform surgery on a patient they wash they arms and hands A LOT and they cant have any sickness and then there was so many people sick that they had to take risks like that.

1.Compare and contrast the lifestyle of Philadelphia in 1793 to Philadelphia today.

a.Indicate one thing that is similar in one aspect of life.Use a different example than ones already shared.

b.Indicate one thing that is different in one aspect of life.Use a different example than ones already shared.

life in philadelphia then was absolutely gross. they didnt have anything such as cleaning products that could prevent sicknesses. They didnt have any hygine at all. I understand that they didnt know what things like germs or bacteria was but seriously its just nasty. One similar thing now would have to be that we realize that theres something wrong with a city and we try to fix it right away but now we have more things to help us out with that. One thing that is different now is we have more tecnology to find things out about viruses and other diseases that can sure it or make it to where it doesnt kill you.

1.How was the life of a 14 year old in 1793 different from the life of a 14 year old today?

a.In which period would you rather live and why?Give an example from the book.Use a different example than the ones previously shared.

b.Comment on one other person’s answer.

I agree with Allie because life back then was very different mainly because there were basically no cures for diseases or sicknesses. when some one was sick then it was hard for them to just "get over it" without medicine or something to help. I would personally want to live in this time period because you have a lot more fun and you dont have to worry about sicknesses as much as they did cause we have many cures and things to help the sick.

1.Mattie thinks Eliza is the luckiest person she knows and considers Eliza her best friend.

a.Why does Mattie think Eliza is lucky or why does she consider Eliza her best friend?Use a different example than the ones previously shared.

b.Who do you consider your close friend and why?Use only first names and write only positive information.

She considers Eliza her best friend because she is the only one around that is there for her to listen to her. Having someone there for you is always a good think to let things out so they dont get bottled up. I consider Bridget my best friend because she is always there for me and always wants to help me even when it comes to something that im wrong about she is there to help me trough it and fix a mistake.

Life for a 14 year old was so much different then the life of a 14 year old now. It was different because back then there weren't as many cures for diseases so if you would get a fever back then it would be much worse then getting a fever now, because now we can get shots to prevent you from getting a disease. I would much rather live in the time period we are living in now because I really hate being sick.
